Public Policy Students Reflect on Their Internships: Ana Todorovska at the Institute for Policy Research and Good Governance

Ana Todorovska, Macedonia
One-year MAPP candidate, Class of 2015
Intern, Institute for Policy Research and Good Governance
Todorovska is interning this summer at the Institute for Policy Research and Good Governance (IPRG) in Skopje, Macedonia. IPRG focuses on minority development and sponsors projects that promote EU integration and decentralization efforts in Macedonia. She is assisting with a project focused on enhancing inter-ethnic community dialogue in Macedonia. “The goal,” she explains, “is to fight discrimination and ethnic prejudice among young people from different ethnic backgrounds.”
Todorovska reports that she has gained valuable experience this summer developing new project proposals and key project targets while also contributing to the collection and analysis of data about public policies addressing ethnic discrimination in Macedonia.
She says that the internship has been an invaluable opportunity to hone skills that will help her find a job in Toronto, where she will be moving this fall. In her spare time, Todorovska has also taken advantage of the chance to travel in Macedonia and spend time with family and friends.
