DPP facult member Andreas Goldthau presented at a conference organized by the European Commission's JRC on the 'Politics and Economics of European Energy Security' held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, 18-19 November 2010. The aim of the conference was to bring policymakers, the academic community, and other key stakeholders together with a view to ensuring that the EU has a coherent energy security policy, and to inject new thinking into the broader European debate around energy security. DPP faculty member Andreas Goldthau spoke at the recent Transatlantic Energy Governance Dialogue on 'Transatlantic Energy Strategies and Resource Nationalism: The New European Energy Landscape' at the BrookingsInstitution, Washington, DC, October 21-22 2010. Dr. Goldthau spoke on a panel titled Security of Supply: Russian Energy Policy and Pipeline Politics.

DPP faculty member Andreas Goldthau presented at the 3rd PEEER conference on Governing Energy in Europe and Russia held at Warwick University, UK, 01-04 September 2010. Dr. Goldthau presented a paper on the governance implications of unconventional gas ('shale gas') for European gas markets. Dr. Goldthau's panel on 'New Europe perspectves' was joined by Caroline Kuyemko (Warwick) and Francis McGowan (Sussex).

Uwe Puetter, Professor at the Department of Public Policy has been awarded a Jean Monnet Chair in European Public Policy and Governance under the Jean Monnet Action scheme of the European Commission. The chair-holder receives a grant of 27.000 EUR. The Jean Monnet Chair is awarded for fostering teaching and academic activities in the field of European Union policy-making. These activities will involve strengthening links between the EU studies at CEU and civil society organisations.
