SPP is here to support our faculty, staff, students and alumni. OneCEU site has a collection of Rector updates for the community, along with separate communications from the Provost, Dean of Students, on issues such as working from home, guidance to supervisors re work obligations of parents. CEU document repository is where you can find COVID 19 academic decisions, such as grading and extensions, the PhD measures, and cost reimbursement for academics.

On 9 November, DPP faculty Andreas Goldthau presented a paper (co-authored with Michael LaBelle of CEU Business School) on shale gas developments in Bulgaria and Poland at Warwick University. The paper was given as part of the annual conference of the GR:EEN project, an EU funded multi-stakeholder research project.

 

On 05 February 2013 DPP faculty Andreas Goldthau participated in a high level workshop held at Chatham House to consider future trends in the energy sector as part of an important review of EBRD’s Energy Operations Policy. The workshop brought together a select group of leading figures in the energy sector, from industry, academia and civil society, to discuss key issues that are of particular relevance to EBRD regions and activities.

 

Austin Choi-Fitzpatrick, a political sociologist whose work focuses on social movements and human rights, will join SPP as assistant professor in summer 2013. His current research, funded by the National Science Foundation, explores the impact of social movements on human rights violators in India, particularly slaveholders engaged in contemporary forms of slavery.

The deadline for submitting paper abstracts has been extended to February 11, 2013.

ISA's RC19 (Poverty, Social Welfare and Social Policy) will hold its annual academic conference at the Central European University, on 22-24 August 2013, hosted by the Center for Policy Studies (CPS).

As part of the EU Human Rights Law and Policy course, students of the MA in Public Policy visited the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights in Vienna on February 28, 2013. The students were received by the director of the Agency, Morten Kjaerum, who presented the activities of the Agency and answered students' questions.
 
The trip was organized by Marie-Pierre Granger, Associate Professor at DPP, and financed by the Central European University Foundation.
