This is a series of tips given by DPP affiliates, professors, staff and students for what not to miss while living in Budapest. The first tip comes from Professor Marie-Pierre Granger.

Marie-Pierre recommends that you explore the 'ruin bars' of Budapest. These 'kerts' are what makes Budapest's  night-, but also day-, life so special and delightful. Each has its own style, theme and atmosphere, but most have a surreal taste and irresistible charm.

DPP student, Rene Eno-Akpa has recently won the prestigious Google Policy Fellowship Award to do research at Strathmore University, Nairobi. This fellowship program supports graduate fellows who do research on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Rene believes that while IPR limits access to quality schooling in rural areas, ICT enhances access to copyright-protected material through electronic learning platforms.

Andrea Krizsan, CPS research fellow and DPP adjunct faculty, contributed to a recently published study on the role of men in gender equality.

The study was commissioned by the European Commission in order to fill the gap of specific and in-depth knowledge of men in gender equality issues. This is the first EU study which undertakes systematic and comparative research in the fields of education, employment, reconciliation policies, violence and health.

Martin Kahanec (DPP) commented on the challenges and opportunities for migration policy regarding third-country workers in the EU at the EPC Single European Labour Market Project Conference “Making progress towards the completion of the Single European Labour Market” on May 28, 2013, in Brussels. In a panel on "What role for third country nationals in the mobility debate?" he addressed the economic and labor market aspects, calling for a better informed discourse and evidence-based policy-making.
