SPP is here to support our faculty, staff, students and alumni. OneCEU site has a collection of Rector updates for the community, along with separate communications from the Provost, Dean of Students, on issues such as working from home, guidance to supervisors re work obligations of parents. CEU document repository is where you can find COVID 19 academic decisions, such as grading and extensions, the PhD measures, and cost reimbursement for academics.

Central European University’s 27th graduation ceremony took place at MUPA, the Budapest Palace of Arts, on the 22nd of June 2018. The event was a celebratory chapter for all CEU students to conclude the 2017/2018 academic year. For the School of Public Policy we congratulate all the graduates of the Master’s in Public Administration, Public Policy and Public Policy Erasmus Mundus Master’s Program, an ensemble of students coming from the US to India, from Georgia to Germany, to make up a total of 33 countries. |

John Ryle, George Soros Visiting Chair at CEU’s School of Public Policy (SPP) in the Spring term of 2017/18, gave a public lecture on “The ‘Benefits’ of Slavery: Abduction, counterinsurgency and the political marketplace in the Sudans” on May 14, 2018. Daniel Large, Assistant Professor at SPP and a Fellow of the Rift Valley Institute chaired the event. |

Associate Professor Marie-Pierre Granger recently published a book chapter entitled ‘The protection of civil rights and liberties and the transformation of Union citizenship’ in the volume, Moving beyond Barriers: Prospects for EU Citizenship, published by Edward Elgar (May 2018), and edited by Sandra Seubert, Marcel Hoogenboom, Trudie Knijn, Sybe de Vries and Frans van Waarden. |

"Izabella Barati Stec, Affiliated Professor at SPP gave a talk about “The role of gender balanced budgets in reaching the Sustainable Development Goals” at the UNEP HQ in Nairobi. Gender inequality has human development costs and impacts the environment and gender budgeting is a way for governments, but also for institutions such as UN Environment, to promote equality through the budget process. The presentation explored how fiscal policies aiming to close the gender gap spread economic and social benefit, reduce economic volatility and boost economic development. |
