Master of Public Administration Application Requirements

Applying to the Master of Public Administration (MPA) is a two-step process consisting of a written application followed by an interview upon invitation.

Written Application

SPP accepts applications for the two-year MPA program. Incomplete applications cannot be considered. In order to fulfill the CEU Admission Requirements and the School-specific requirements, all applicants will need to submit the following documents:

  • Completed Online Application Form
  • Proof of English proficiency
  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Statement of purpose*
  • Response to one short essay*

*Specific instructions on topic and length are available in the relevant section of the Online Application Form.

SPP collaborates with the Center for Religious Studies to offer the option for MPA students to obtain an Advanced Certificate in Religious Studies. Students who wish to pursue this certificate while enrolled in the program are asked to submit an additional Statement of Purpose through the online application form.

Professional or Volunteer Experience

Although not a requirement, the admissions committee will look favorably upon applicants who highlight their work experiences. This could be any combination of professional or volunteer experience(s), either full-time or part-time. Given the School’s global nature, applicants are also highly encouraged to highlight any multicultural experiences in their applications.

Interview (by invitation only)

Following an evaluation of the written application, the admissions committee may invite selected applicants for a phone or Skype interview with SPP faculty and/or staff. Usually, interviews are conducted in February and March.

Admission and Financial Aid Decisions

The admissions committee will evaluate candidates on a holistic level, taking into account the individual’s potential for both academic and personal growth as well as the unique qualities and experiences that he or she could contribute to make SPP an intellectual basin of innovative ideas. Applicants will be notified of the decision (including any financial aid package offered) via the online application system around April 1.
