Academic Senate Approves Two New Master's Programs

At its May 18 meeting, CEU’s Academic Senate approved two new master's programs. One, a two-year Master of Public Policy program in the School of Public Policy, offers an academic curriculum consisting of core, specialization, and elective courses; skill-development modules; and a practical experience component. The other is a two-year Master of Arts program in Cultural Heritage Studies: Academic Research, Policy and Management.

CEU and the Brookings Institution Collaborate for Event on Genocide Prevention

Building on the legacy of U.S. Ambassador Richard Holbrooke, the Brookings Institution, in collaboration with CEU's School of Public Policy and International Affairs (SPPIA), hosted a special panel event on preventing genocide and mass atrocities on May 22. Following on the recent creation of an Atrocity Prevention Board by the Obama administration, the event focused on U.S. and international commitments and efforts to prevent genocide and mass atrocities, a theme that was central to  Ambassador Holbrooke’s life and work.

CEU School of Public Policy and International Affairs hosts Inaugural Conference

On April 23, Dean Wolfgang Reinicke of CEU's new School of Public Policy and International Affairs (SPPIA) welcomed over 60 leading scholars and practitioners from across the globe to the school's inaugural conference, “The Future of Public Policy Schools in the 21st Century.” CEU President and Rector John Shattuck described the school as one that “will focus on promoting entrepreneurship in public policy in a time of pressing global and regional challenges as well as new opportunities.”

George Soros Shares His Vision for CEU's New School of Public Policy and International Affairs

CEU Founder and Honorary Chairman of the Board George Soros participated in the inaugural conference of CEU's new School of Public Policy and International Affairs (SPPIA) on April 24. He engaged in a conversation titled “A Global Public Policy School for the 21st Century – My Vision,” moderated by Leonard Bernardo, associate director of Open Society Foundations (OSF) and director of Open Society Fellowship.

CEU Names Wolfgang H. Reinicke Dean of its new School of Public Policy and International Affairs

Central European University (CEU) has named Wolfgang H. Reinicke Dean of the new CEU School of Public Policy and International Affairs in Budapest, effective September 1, 2011. Reinicke is currently co-founder and Director of the Global Public Policy Institute in Berlin, Nonresident Senior Fellow at The Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., and Managing Director of Galaxar S.A. in Geneva.
