In a public lecture at Central European University (CEU) on May 5, International Organization of Migration (IOM) research consultant and Department of Public Policy (DPP) alumnus Alin Chindea (MA 2006) presented the findings of the HEADSTART: Fostering Integration Before Departure project.
CEU is again taking part in the Allianz Summer Academy (ASA). The theme this year is Europe at a Turning Point: Economic Crisis, Social Disintegration, Political Change. Teams from five universities are preparing reports on topics related to this theme that will be presented and discussed during the first days of the Summer Academy at the Allianz Management Institute (Kempfenhausen).
Uwe Puetter, professor of public policy and director of CEU’s Center for European Union Research, was an expert discussant at a high-level panel debate on the full-time presidency of the European Council hosted by the European Parliament’s Research Service (EPRS) in Brussels on May 5.

“The course created a platform where dynamic and engaged people from resource-rich countries could exchange and learn from different experiences…  I enthusiastically recommend the course to any actor—policymakers, civil society activists, or private sector executives—who are involved in extractive industries,” said Zeinab Camara from Guinea. Camara was describing the two-week course that she recently completed in Budapest, Hungary.

In a faculty research seminar on April 23, Margaret Jenkins presented her ongoing research on all-female peacekeeping units. She is currently a research associate at the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace & Security at Georgetown University and a research fellow in the Women and Public Policy Program at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
