SPP is here to support our faculty, staff, students and alumni. OneCEU site has a collection of Rector updates for the community, along with separate communications from the Provost, Dean of Students, on issues such as working from home, guidance to supervisors re work obligations of parents. CEU document repository is where you can find COVID 19 academic decisions, such as grading and extensions, the PhD measures, and cost reimbursement for academics.

During a Global Policy Academy course on legal empowerment, Yasmin Sooka, George Soros Visiting Chair and executive director of the Foundation for Human Rights, made a presentation about community-based dispute resolution in South Africa with her colleagues Bricks Mkholo and Hamadziripi Tamukamoyo. |

On December 4, SPP celebrated the successful defense of Philipp Thaler, who is the first PhD student within the public policy track at CEU's Doctoral School of Political Science, Public Policy and International Relations to graduate since SPP became part of the Doctoral School earlier this summer. SPP faculty contributes to teaching and student supervision within the Doctoral School. "Undertaking a PhD at CEU has been an overwhelming experience," Thaler commented. "These past five years have helped me rethink some of my world views. |

"What I'm interested in doing," explained Armenak Tokmajyan, "is to develop an analytical framework to enhance our ability to understand conflicts like the one in Syria." Tokmajyan, who is a research fellow at SPP's Center for Conflict, Negotiation and Recovery, explained the concept of conflict cycles. He described how conflicts go through phases: latent conflict, non-violent conflict, violent conflict, conflict mitigation, conflict settlement, peace agreement, peace, etc. |
