NASPAA Competitor at the School of Public Policy, Central European University (SPP CEU), Budapest, Hungary Site Competition

My name is Waqas Shabir from Pakistan. I am pursuing a Master of Arts in Public Policy with a concentration in Governance at the School of Public Policy at Central European University. I have worked for prestigious education reforms in Pakistan prior to joining SPP CEU. My interests lie in the improvement of public sector reforms in the public service through education, health and public-private partnerships for provision of public goods.

Public Policy and Administration programs equip students with practical skills, and simulations offer a real world setting to apply those skills. With the increasing innovation in information technology (IT) and artificial intelligence, I think using simulations provide a unique learning opportunity for students. This will also broaden the horizon for students to use IT tools to solve complex public management problems.

I believe that the NASPAA-Batten Student Simulation Competition will help us strengthen our skills of collaboration. The ability to learn from students coming from different backgrounds in addition to improving my problem solving skills, through active listening to multiple perspectives on global health security through innovative ways to address challenges, is a great advantage.
