SPP Student Elected President of CEU Student Union

October 7, 2013

Two SPP students have been elected to the Student Union Assembly (SUA), one as president and another to the senate.

Luis Cano was elected president of the union while his classmate, Rumbidzai Masango will join him in the SUA as a member of the union's senate. CEU students participate actively in matters of governance and management. To ensure adequate student representation the student body elects a Student Union Assembly (SUA) every academic year. The SUA is an independent body operating according to its Constitution and is made up of representatives from all schools and departments of the university.

Cano, from Venezuela, who has a background of education in legal studies and has already completed an MA in Comparative Constitutional Law at CEU, has strong interests in governance, politics and administration. Masango, from Zimbabwe, has an educational background in Politics and Philosophy, having completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Cape Town in South Africa.

The fact that two students from SPP's inaugural class have been elected to positions on the SUA is a great achievement for the students of the newly opened school who have already been showing their eagerness to become involved in university wide activities such as assisting with the planning and running of the October 3 roundtable on Syria which was held in the CEU auditorium.
