Philip Howard joins SPP Faculty

The CEU School of Public Policy is pleased to announce that Philip N. Howard will join its faculty as a Professor for Media & Communication Policy and Governance. Currently, Howard is a professor of communication, information and international studies at the University of Washington and a fellow at Princeton University's Center for Information Technology Policy. Phil Howard is a frequent commentator and blogger on media policy issues; his writings appear at http://philhoward.org. His latest book is Democracy's Fourth Wave? Digital Media and the Arab Spring (Oxford, forthcoming in 2013).

Professor Howard also will become Director of the Center for Media and Communication Studies (CMCS) at CEU. CMCS Director Kate Coyer will continue as the Center's Executive Director. CMCS was founded in 2004 as a hub for developing media and communication research at Central European University, and as a center of excellence for promoting media and communication studies in the region. Now a part of the School of Public Policy, the Center continues its unique role in Central Europe, while extending globally its work on media and communication policy, media and civil society, and media in transition.
