The Policy Advisers Course for Eastern Partners, co-organized by SPP, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) from November 11-13, 2015 supported 20 young political advisors to play a stronger role in shaping democratic institutions and defining the future trajectory of their nations.

"What makes for a good victim and a good cause? Why is some life sacred and some not? Why does the world take so long to count the dead?" These are just some of the questions that Yasmin Sooka addressed, and tried to answer, during a compelling conversation with SPP Professor of Practice Robert Templer at the School of Public Policy at Central European University on November 4.
Marie Deschamps, former judge of the Supreme Court of Canada, and Hassan Jallow, a Gambian lawyer and jurist, highlighted some of the challenges in dealing with sexual violence during George Soros Visiting Chair Yasmin Sooka's course on transitional justice. "Looking into cases of sexual abuse is always challenging since the conclusions we draw are not only about changing policies but also require a change in mindset," warned Deschamps.
